    Xbox One S having trouble downloading games, will only work on personal hotspot.


    I've been through the gamut of possible solutions to this problem and nothing seems to work. Reset the xbox, unplugged and plugged everything back in, deleted saves, switched wifi;s, nothing but using my phones personal hotspot seems to work. Every time I do try to download it will do this little hiccup and start to try but will cancel itself out without making any progress. when I try enough times I'll be told that something went wrong and to try again later when my wifi is less busy when I'm the only person using it. Online play is fine so I don't know what is wrong.

    Hi, I have followed this and still no luck. Like I previously mentioned, I have tried personal hotspot on my iPhone to see if the issue was the router but I have the same issues with the hotspot on my iPhone also, this makes me wander if it is a Xbox issue rather than the route.. I never had this issue with my Xbox one, only just now with purchasing the Xbox series S

    I wasn't really able to play crucible but the rest of Destiny worked just fine. I could do raids, nightfalls, all the 3 player content worked ok. Trials and skirmish worked well enough too since there's less players.

    I have no issues with my tmobile iphone 6 , maybe ur data plan has changed or ur iphone needs hard reset.

    Xbox One ONLY downloads and updates when using personal hotspot.

    Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

    Go to Settings > Power & startup > Under Power Options > highlight the Power mode, then press the "A" button on the controller to toggle between instant-on and energy-saving mode.

    Change DNS:

    - Go to Settings

    - Network

    - Advanced settings

    - DNS settings

    - Manual.

    (If Settings doesn't appear on the home screen, select My Games & Apps, then Settings.)

    Then enter the Primary DNS as "208.67.222.222" and the Secondary DNS as "208.67.220.220"

    I'll also recommend you contact your Internet provider and ask them to open these ports for you

    Usually, there is a list of ports that is used by Xbox Live, which is this:

    Port 88 (UDP)

    Port 3074 (UDP and TCP)

    Port 53 (UDP and TCP)

    Port 80 (TCP)

    Port 500 (UDP)

    Port 3544 (UDP)

    Port 4500 (UDP)
