Xbox One S has no audio output via output jack on controller

I have four controllers and none of them work with three different headsets. All three headsets work perfectly when plugged into anything other than the controller. All three headset have worked with these controllers in the past. The controller does not
recognize anything is even plugged into the audio output jack as there is no audio selection available on the settings page. I have performed a hard reset, restarted and shutdown multiple times, unplugged and plugged the headset into the jack several times,
wiggled the cable in the jack, etc. I have tried everything I can find on the internet to fix it to no avail. I have followed the troubleshooting guide from Microsoft to no resolution.

All controllers are up to date running firmware 3.1.1221.0.

Running OS version 10.0.18362.3055 which was updated to this version on 5/18 of this year which seems to be about the same time these issues started.

This was a Christmas present for my son so everything is less than 6 months old. Any help would be appreciated.

    :)

Xbox One S has no audio output via output jack on controller

yes that is an idea but the cost is very expensive compared to replaceing the jack port which only takes a few mins to do as a headset adapter is £24.99 and the parts would cost less that £5

as i have replace my sons and found out how easy it was i would always chande the jack port

but good idea if you wanted the easy way but costly

    • An Xbox One Wireless Controller purchased in or after June 2015 can take updates wirelessly without connecting via USB cable. This controller has a small, circular 3.5-mm port on the bottom of the controller; controllers without this port must update via
      USB cable.

Follow these steps to update your controller wirelessly and to support the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter:
      1. Sign in to Xbox Live on your Xbox One console and install the latest system update if prompted to do so.
      2. If you have a stereo headset adapter, plug it into the bottom of your controller so it can also get updates.
      3. If you're using a stereo headset adapter, plug in a headset (a headset must be plugged in so the adapter will turn on).
      4. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
      5. Select System > Kinect & devices > Devices & accessories, and then select the controller you want to update.
      6. Select Device info, select the Firmware version box, and then select Continue.
      7. When the update is complete, you can update additional controllers. If they can only be updated via USB, see Update
        via USB
. Otherwise, select the Update another button on the screen after the first update is complete, and then follow the steps.

      Notes
      • The auto-detect feature of this update may not work immediately if you plugged your stereo headset adapter into the controller while downloading a system update, or while the console was turned off. To resolve this, go to the Home screen and unplug the
adapter. Then, re-plug the adapter into the controller.
      • You only need to update your controller one time to use the stereo headset adapter. However, if you plan to use the stereo headset adapter with other Xbox One controllers, you’ll need to follow this process for each controller. Additionally, check for new
updates periodically as Xbox frequently ships new controller features and improvements.
      • If you try to update a controller that was already updated, the system will check the controller and proceed to the success screen within a few seconds to indicate that it’s already updated.
    • Update via USB

Follow these steps to update your controller via USB and to support the Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter:
      1. Sign in to Xbox Live on your Xbox One console and install the latest system update if prompted to do so.
      2. If you have one, plug the stereo headset adapter into the bottom of your controller so it can also get updates.
      3. If you're using a stereo headset adapter, plug in a headset (a headset must be plugged in so the adapter will turn on).
      4. Plug the big end of the included USB cable into the port on the left side of the console, around the corner from the disc tray.
      5. Plug the small end of the USB cable into the top of the controller.

      1. Instructions to install the update should automatically appear. Follow the instructions, and don’t disconnect the USB cable while the update is in progress. (The process can take up to 3 minutes.)

If instructions to install the update don’t automatically appear, you can start the process manually. To do this, press the Xbox button to open the guide, select System > Kinect & devices> Devices
        & accessories
, and then select the controller you want to update. Select Device info, select the Firmware version box, and then select Continue.
      2. When the update is complete, unplug the USB cable. If you have additional controllers to update, connect them now, one at a time, select the Update another button on the screen, and then follow the steps.

      1. Press the Xbox button on the wireless controller to turn it on. Your controller is now up to date, and you’re ready to use your Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter.
      • If you have more than one controller connected via USB cable, the update will tell you to disconnect the other controller and update just one controller at a time.
    • Update via PC

Update your controller on a Windows 10 PC by using the Xbox Accessories app:
      1. Get the app from Microsoft Windows 10 by searching for "Xbox Accessories."
      2. Launch the Xbox Accessories app.
      3. Connect your Xbox One Wireless Controller by using a USB cable or the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows.

Note You'll be prompted to update to Windows 10 Anniversary Edition if you haven't yet done so.
      4. When the controller is connected, you'll see the message Update Required if an update is mandatory. Install the update.

Note You can also go to Device Info to check for an update.
      Notes
      • The Xbox Accessories app is available only on Windows 10.
      • Controllers that don't have a built-in 3.5-mm audio port must be updated using a USB connection and must have the Windows 10 TH2 Update (or later).
      • Updating the controller over Bluetooth is not supported.
      • Bluetooth requires a PC running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. See Windows Update: FAQ to learn how to get the latest Windows update.

Xbox One S has no audio output via output jack on controller

    G'day,

I would buy a headset adapter to bypass the 3.5mm plug instead of trying to fix it.

hi just a very quick fix if your willing to open your controls

the jack ports are very poor and need to be replaced (order from ebay)

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/282894439892?chn=ps

dont need anything but a star screw drive (ebay also)

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/392283752535?chn=ps

and that should fix your problem

i had to do this to my sons. (after buying a new one)

its only a few £ to repair

    hope this helps

    steve

I agree with you. I just can't believe all four controllers less than six months old can fail. That speaks to the quality for sure. The other responses look like canned responses someone sent without reading the issue. I appreciate your response and I'll
    update the post after replacement.
