XBox One S has defective fan controller?

Starting yesterday the top fan on my Xbox One S started going haywire. Turned on, or turned off, the fan bounces between 75% and 100% non stop, with the only way to make it stop is to unplug it. Only had the Xbox for 1 or 2 months and the fan basically never
turned on past 25% before, and usually was silent 99% of the time.

Thankfully it is under warranty, so I am RMAing it, but figured I would make a post incase other people are running into the same issue.

I took some video as well, so I could upload it to YouTube if anyone wanted to see/hear it.

Xbox One S fan noise

hey guys is it Normal for the Xbox One S to have a noisy fan because my Xbox One S has the noisy fan and I don't know if this is normal or not

 

Xbox One S turns on but wont start up

My Xbox one S turns on and my TV displays the green Xbox screen and it loads but it abruptly cuts off and restarts itself. The white xbox button flashes white then it goes back to normal. the fan also stops then restarts. is the console defective? I bought
it from amazon and its still under warranty from Microsoft.

 

Did you have it enclosed?

You probably just got a bad unit. Unfortunately that can happen from time to time.

 

No, it is just sitting out in the open. It is winter here too so the house is at like 70F. The thing is blowing cold air, so definitely not going full bore cause of a heat issue.

 

So I got the new console from the RMA Abenaki of course I can’t actually login now because of the Xbox life services being down.

My One S does about the same. The fan just decides to ramp up to 100% without the unit being warm. I'm on here now because I've coped with it since I can get it to go months without ramping up but now I am out of warranty. I decided to move it to my
living room recently where I like to open my windows for cool air. And as soon as I do so the fan ramps up to 100%. Every time it gets hit by cool air it must think it's over heating. Annoying thing is, once the fan kicks it into over drive, the fan won't
slow down on its own most of the time and will spin at 100% even after I turn the unit off or even hours later if I let it. Hopefully I can find some answers somewhere on here before I tear the thing apart.

 

How can i view my family speed percentage like you've stated?

I have the same problem. It's gotten much worse over the last year. It's NOT clicking. No performance issues.

Just a super loud fan on CONSTANTLY.

Occasionally resetting the unit will stop the fan for a little while but it really doesn't go away which sucks because it's the hub of our media room. All tv and streaming go through this box.

It's well-ventilated and so is the power supply. I blow dust out of it frequently. in the internet offers no solution because anytime I try to search for the problem I am instead presented with the clicking noise issue which is discouraging. Any threads
I have found with this issue have little or no reply let alone the solution.

Any help is appreciated.
