    Xbox One S Hard Drive Troubleshooting


    I am attempting to isolate issues associated with our Xbox One S as it will not load games. It has plenty of storage space, only 26% full, but stalls on the load up screen and will not launch games.

    I have researched in the community but the menu structure of our counsel does not have a troubleshooting option.

    Perhaps we have an older version? Any suggestions to determine if the internal hard drive is bad?

    If you're having trouble running games on your console, we can try some troubleshooting steps that may help before you consider a hard drive issue.

    Please try the following steps:

    1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

    Remove your account from the console (You need to have your email address handy so that you can log in later).

    2. Press and hold the Power button on the front of your Xbox until the console turns off.

    3. Unplug the power cord from the back of your Xbox.

    4. Wait a minute, and then plug the power cord back in.

    5. Press the Power button on your Xbox to turn it back on.

    6. Log in to your account again.

    Be happy to help troubleshoot, but will need a bit more information. Are you getting an error message? What happens when it freezes? Does it crash to the dashboard or completely lock up the system? Is the game on the internal hard drive or an external
    hard drive? Can you hear the fan and is it loud prior to it freezing up? Is this an Xbox One, One S, or One X?

    With a bit more information we can help determine the next best troubleshooting steps.

    All you need is a hard drive transfer cable for $20.

    Are both hard drives for the 360 S or is one for the 360 S and the other for the original xbox 360?

    @MATT, the Xbox 360 S has a Hard Drive hidden away in the bottom of the console.

    My advice would be to buy another Hard Drive, or at least call up Xbox Phone Support and see if they can run you through some quick troubleshoots.

    Hi, I have the very same issue whereby my xbox one s & x does not detect external hard drives for media, even after been formatted on pc. All troubleshooting steps were followed and still not resolved. These were brand new hard drives out the box but my older hard drives works perfectly fine, was something changed via an update by Microsoft or what?
