Xbox One S External Optical Drive... Is it REALLY possible???

I have been contemplating purchasing an Xbox One S for my children (Who are MURDER on CD/DVD and Blue Rays... Not to mention the carnage of them using game disks. LOL)

Most of the games that I have bought for them, with a few notable exceptions of course, are in disk format, therefore my question is this...

Is it possible to connect an external (I assume Blue Ray) drive to the Xbox One S via a USB connection to install their games onto the new console? If so what components work best?

I have hunted in the forums with no real answers, (ex : "I don't think so." or "Maybe, I'm not sure." are the best I can find) so any
    real answers are decidedly appreciated.

    Thanks a bunch!

    :)

Xbox One S External Optical Drive... Is it REALLY possible???

I don't think it is possible due to a 3rd party drive will be using different firmware that the Xbox Operating system wont recognised

So I guess basically that everything that I already have purchased will be garbage if I get them an Xbox S and I will have to start all over from scratch?

    Great...

And I thought that Nintendo game systems were a problematic waste of money.

Xbox One S External Optical Drive... Is it REALLY possible???

Hi, you cannot. There is a lot of reasons, piracy, licenses, etc.

Xbox One S External Optical Drive... Is it REALLY possible???

    Hi,

No, that won't be possible. The One S all digital can not use external Blu-ray drives.

The main reason would piracy. External drives (even if they could be approved) would be much easier to modify to allow installation of copied Xbox One games.
