    Xbox One S doesn't see newly added files to external hard drive


    Hi everyone! I hope you can help. I added new movies to my external drive (exfat) but media player does not find them. All of my other files in the same folder work, just not new ones added to the drive. They're all the same mkv file type as well.

    - I tried a different usb port

    - I power cycled

    - I uninstalled and reinstalled the media player

    - I installed a 3rd file explorer

    - I removed the files from the drive and re-added them.

    - They do show up when connecting the drive to a pc.

    PLEASE HELP!

    Hi there,

    The 360 will allow an
    external storage device     to be connected to it. Have you tried saving your maps and such to an external drive to see if the 360's hard drive is going bad, or if the machine itself is corrupting the files. If the machine is corrupting the files, time to replace
    it. If it's just the 360's drive corrupting them you can try looking for a new 360 drive.

    You've tried removing the hard drive and running the game and it still freezes at that point? I would've figured it was the hard drive causing that issue? You mention your saves are backed up with a USB and you tried it with it connected to the USB?

    Could you try it on another Xbox 360 if possible?

    Also try making another save file to see if the problem still persists.

    It also sounds like your hard drive for your 360 is illegitimate; Xbox 360 S and E hard drives should be a minimum of 250 or 500GB of space. This doesn't apply to external hard drives, however.

    Hi, you shouldn't have any issues using that external hard drive with the Xbox S, your files should be fine.

    Forgive me for saying so but "LET THE MODDING BEGIN!"

    It's understandable why Microsoft have waited so long before adding external storage. It has allowed games to remain mod free during the launch window, as most people aren't going to pull their console apart to get at the files on the hard drive.

    Not going to be a problem though with the files able to be placed an external drive.

    So any bets on when we'll see the first Xbox One Call of Duty mod.
