    Xbox One S Disc Drive Won't Work


    Purchased Christmas - now the disc drive won't do anything. Is there a home fix for this? Already unplugged, did a hard reset. Anything else?

    A Series S doesn't have a disc drive, so it won't read any discs.

    That game is not backwards compatible so it won't work on a newer console.

    Yes it will as long as you mean a Series X, not a Series S. The Series S doesn't have a disc drive so it won't work there.

    If you're having trouble with your disc drive reading games, you can
    try the solutions here    . That covers a lot of common scenarios for why a disc drive might not be working. If the solution does not work, the last resort would be to send the console in for repair, which would likely be an out-of-warranty repair at this point.

    You won't get a free Xbox One S for having a malfunctioning Xbox 360 disc drive.

    Try the solutions and see how you get on.

    The Series S doesn't have a disc drive. If you've tried using an external drive, it won't work. You would need the Series X In order for it to work.

    That won't work. The disc is required to be in the disc drive to prove you own the game. Since the Series S doesn't have a disc drive, that wouldn't be possible and you can only use digital games on that console.
