Xbox One S - Crashing/Lagging/Unexpectedly Powering Down

Afternoon All,

I sent across a question during the UK Lockdown in May-June. This problem is still occurring, any help would be appreciated.

My issue is: I have a new Xbox one s, whenever either, YouTube, Settings, Xbox Assist, or any of the Xbox OS apps such as browse games etc etc is launched the Xbox will either power down, crash, lag or shut the app, this is through anything on the Xbox system
such as settings or marketplace the same issue happens it just shuts off. I've been told this is happening to a lot of people due to a recent update is this the case or does anyone know a resolution? - i was told this 3 months ago.

I have now waited for nearly 4 Xbox updates, not one of them has fixed the issue, in fact it may even be getting worse.

Turns on, i can launch a game, Warzone/Fifa and play for hours and hours and hours with 0 issues - as soon as i launch Youtube, Settings, Xbox Assist or any operating system app, or browse to my game queue and back onto a game it crashes once, if i try again,
it turns off the console and reboots it. IM PUZZLED!

its becoming un use able and i raised it with Microsoft who consistently tell me it is a software issue that needs update ( this was when i first raised the issue ) does anyone have any ideas or update?

I would like to advise, i have tried a power cycle more then 100 times, i have also tried to reset the console while keeping games and settings,

IF nobody knows whats happening then would a full system reset work? and if so do i lose any of my progress within any game?

Otherwise is this a hardware issue? should i send to Microsoft, The console only feels like it blows out hot air after some extensive usage, but even if i turn it on after a whole day switched off, soon as i go to settings etc etc it will crash and turn
off?

Gods sake. Basically atleast i know a scratch reset probably wont fix it

Sorry to hijack the thread. I have had similar issues with my Xbox One X. I have performed multiple resets , updates , offline update. None of which has resolved it freezing up. The system is out of warranty as of a year ago. £236 for MS to perform an exchange
is lot. I have had every iteration of Xbox since day one but having a Xbox Gamepass Ultimate subscription with no console to play on is not much fun.

You will need to re-download the games, but as soon as you start playing them the console will check on-line to see if you have any game save data and re-sync it.

Something you may want to consider is what I do and that I have an external drive and download all my games to that. This takes the load off the internal drive, which I only use for the OS and the odd app. Then I know if the external drive fails, I just
get a new one without having to get my console repaired.
