    XBOX One S Controller / PC / Bluetooth


    hi so my pc just stop recognizing my controller via bluetooth, the controller is fine, bluetooth is fine, i've tested them on my brother's pc and they're fine. i've tested my second controller on my pc and also fine.
    my pc won't recognize this specific controller. if i try to scan, a "xbox wireless controller" will appear in "other devices" section and status is "paired" and removing that won't solve it, uninstalling it from "device manager" won't solve it, what am it supposed to do?

    There is no Bluetooth radio component in the Xbox One S console itself.

    The controllers connect to the Xbox One S the same way the controllers connect to the original Xbox One: proprietary RF. You could technically connect an Xbox One S controller to an original Xbox One, and an original Xbox controller to the Xbox One S.

    The Bluetooth functionality in the new Xbox One S controller is specifically made for connecting the controller to a Windows 10 PC with the "Anniversary" update, which has the drivers needed for the controller when connected via Bluetooth.

    Yes, absolutely.

    In case there's confusion, the Bluetooth part in the controller is only for connecting it to a Windows PC. Bluetooth is not used on the Xbox One S, as the console does not actually have a Bluetooth chip.

    The Xbox One S controller still connects to the console with the same wireless protocol as any standard Xbox One controller.

    It even works vice versa! You can also connect a regular Xbox One controller to an Xbox One S.

    The redesigned controller has added Bluetooth to make it easier to connect to a W10 PC. That is all. The Xbox One S does not use Bluetooth to connect to the controller.

    The Xbox One console doesn't support Bluetooth. That headset won't work with the Xbox One in any way.

    The new Xbox One controllers (the ones that come with the Xbox One S) have Bluetooth, but that's only used to connect the controller to a Windows 10 PC through Bluetooth.
