    Xbox one S controller no longer works as it should on windows via BLE


    I was advised to post this here after i posted it on answers.microsoft.com . According to the advisor, he is seeing people complaining about this a bit.

    Ever since my controller was updated to the new firmware that supports the feature to be synced with the computer and xbox at the same time, it no longer works as it should while connected via bluetooth to the computer. It works fine with a cable.

    In the past it was detected as a xinput device, now it's a "6 axis 16 button gamepad with hat switch". The xbox button no longer opens the windows game bar nor the steam overlay.

    Steam still detects it as a xbox one controller but if i close steam and try to play a game outside it that wants a xinput controller, it doesn't recognize one.

    I have everything up to date. OS, apps, firmware. It was working before i update it to the newest firmware.

    Doing a little research, it seems the series X/S controllers have this problem for a while now.

    I understand that you are experiencing issues with your controller when connected to PC.

    I apologize for the inconvenienced this has caused you. I will do my best to help you.

    Please update bluetooth drivers by opening Device Manager (press Windows Key + X and select "Device Manager"). Expand the "Bluetooth" section, right-click your Bluetooth adapter, and select "Update driver."

    Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."

    And then reinstall bluetooth drivers. Do this in Device Manager, right-click your Bluetooth adapter and select "Uninstall device." Restart your PC, and Windows should automatically reinstall the Bluetooth drivers.

    Next is to update Xbox controller firmware. Connect your controller via USB or USB-C. Open the Xbox Accessories app (available in the Microsoft Store) and check for firmware updates for your controller.

    Then disable bluetooth low energy (BLE) because there are PCs have issues with BLE. Please check your Bluetooth adapter's settings in Device Manager and disable BLE.

    Yes but a couple of conditions.... If the controller is one of the newer xbox one S type controllers what is wireless for window it will connect via bluetooth to a windows laptop. If not you will need to get controller adaptor for windows but it might
    be easier to get a new controller what works with windows. The other thing will be you might have to sync to the different device when you want to use it.

    I'm Having the same issue. My xbox one s controller works fine while wired, but the windows bluetooth doesnt detect it while wireless. ie adding the controller via bluetooth is not working as its just dont being detected.
