Xbox One S Controller Disconnects for Certain Games but Not Others?

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:



1. Game-Specific Compatibility:

• The difference in behavior between games might be due to game-specific compatibility with the controller.
  
• Some games may have different requirements or interactions with the controller, leading to varying results.
  

2. Wireless Interference:

• Wireless interference can cause disconnects. Even though your controller is brand new, consider the following:
  
  • Move other wireless devices away from your Xbox console and controller.
    
  • Ensure there are no interfering signals (such as other wireless devices or routers) nearby.
    
  • Try using the controller in a different location to see if the issue persists.
    

3. Controller Firmware Update:

• Although your controller is up-to-date, it’s worth checking for any firmware updates:
  
  • Connect your controller to your Xbox console via USB.
    
  • Go to Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories.
    
  • Select your controller and check for any available updates.
    

4. Controller Reset:

• Sometimes a controller reset can help:
  
  • Press and hold the Sync button on the top of your controller.
    
  • Simultaneously press and hold the Xbox button until the controller turns off.
    
  • Turn the controller back on and re-sync it with your console.
    

5. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

1. Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
   
2. Select Reset console.
   
3. On the Reset your console? screen Select Reset and keep my games & apps. Use this option as your primary choice when troubleshooting. It resets the OS and deletes all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps.

Is this happening in all games or just certain games?

Is it just you getting disconnected or are other members also?

Are you plugging in or disconnecting a wired controller when it happens?

If a wireless controller, is the battery low?

(This also happens to friends in parties occasionally in Rainbow Six Siege).

We have only 1 controller for each, they are in the same room about 5 feet apart, she has Xbox one X and I have an Xbox one S. The guide on the Xbox says to go to a certain help selection call Console and Accessories but it doesn't exist and the videos on YouTube that tell you how to fix it don't work either. The controller disconnects and flashes twice before reconnecting, sometimes it is less than a minute between other times it is hours. It happens after we updated the consoles and controllers recently

Same problem here.. Xb1 S controller randomly disconnects, original xbox one controller has no issues with xb1 S console...
