Xbox One S console not recognising mic/ headset - "We cant find a microphone for these...

    Hi

Using a Turtle beach Xbox One headset which has been fine using on two standard wireless controllers as of yesterday. One had always been intermittent but the other died yesterday too. Neither recognises the headset/ mic and I get the "We cant find a microphone
for these people on xbox one" message. We have done the hard reset, re-sync controllers to the console, updated the controllers, checked settings and mic is on etc - Have tested headset which works fine with a phone so its definitely not the headset. The
controllers use the 3.5mm jack and the system was only bought in December as a Christmas present. Does anyone have any other ideas on what the issue is. There seems to be a lot of people posing the same question so there is undoubtedly an issue with the
controller/ 3.5mm jack. Can anyone enlighten me?

    :)

Many have said that using the headset adapter resolves the issue. It may be worth picking up one to see if it works for you. I use the adapter and haven't had any issues.

    Hi there,

This has been an issue the Xbox engineering team has been investigating for quite some time now. The root cause of the issue is difficult to pinpoint because there have been many mixed reports. But nonetheless it all comes down to different third party headsets
eventually not being recognizable if connecting via the 3.5mm connection. Essentially the issue has been looked at in different ways but reports point primarily to the controllers 3.5 mm port becoming detached somewhere from the main circuit board, but reports
that it happens on multiple controllers, even brand new ones, point to the console system software playing a part with this issue. That's why a permanent resolution has yet to be found, but the workaround is getting a hold of the Xbox One headset adapter,
since it has a different connection and the adapter has firmware that makes headsets more compatible with Xbox One.

Getting a headset adapter will also improve your gaming experience if you use 3.5mm headsets in the long run since all of your audio can be controlled directly from the adapter which is really convenient.

“We can’t find a microphone for these people”. Will there be a fix? Don't if this should be under "Post a question" or "Post a discussion"

The Xbox system does not detect the mic and there is no sound coming out of the headset.

When connecting to a PC or phone the headset has sound. Although I did not test the microphone to see if it was detected at all. I will attempt that later

I still think the issue is with the Xbox one S controller that originally came with the console.

Do xbox do a microphone for Xbox Series X?

Microsoft haven't produced an Xbox specific microphone, no.

The only option is either to use a headset with a built-in microphone or find a mic that can be used via the 3.5mm audio port on the controller

    Hi there,

If all you need is a microphone, you can either get a
    headset
with a mic, or just a mic.

I have a mini microphone that plugs into the mic jack on my controller. You can search Amazon for 3.5mm Mini Microphone. The one I have says it's for iPhone 3G/ipod/touch/classic. It will look like a large black pill.
