Xbox One S chirping/high pitched fan squeak

Hello everyone, I have a bit of a problem. I purchased an xbox one s bundle and noticed immediately that it made this annoying high pitched sound that you could hear anywhere in the room. searching on the subject I found other people are having the same
problem. I decided that the noise level was not normal, it really made it hard to enjoy anything without loud volume because of the rining sound in your ear.

So I brought it into the microsoft store the other day and they happily exchanged my console for me but unfortunately that didn't solve my problems and actually gave me some new ones. First off I gave them a practically new console with what I assume is
a defective fan and in return they gave me back a refurbished console that also has a whining fan, so I feel Ive just been downgraded. Ive had friends listen to this new one just to make sure it isn't me and we all hear the noise. The fan doesn't sound right
close up either. Its also been finicky, no disc error with disc in and errors during downloads from disc. Needless to say Im pretty disappointed.

What do you recommend I do? Im still within warranty. I feel like Ive payed $250 for a paperweight because I just don't enjoy using it with the noise, and my exchange experience has been quite bad, Im afraid ill just get another refurb dud. Im disappointed
that I was even given a refurbished console in the first place, shouldn't defective products should be replaced with new ones?

The problem is I have already done that and was given a refurbished instead of new console

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Forums! We understand this was not an ideal experience and apologize for any inconveniences.

Under "normal" gaming conditions, where you have the game sound turned up to regular room volume, you should only hear the console if you specifically listen for the fan. The fan should not be in any way annoying or disruptive to your game experience. However,
as you mentioned, you and your friends noticed the noise quickly. All Xbox One consoles (Xbox One X, Xbox One S, original Xbox One) are designed to ventilate air to keep them at an optimal temperature during use.

Keeping the console free from obstructions and clutter will allow it to ventilate properly. See

You can either take it to the store with the receipt and exchange the console again or send it in for a repair to our repair center.

I went back tonight and explained the situation and they had me out the door in minutes with a new console, so they made it right. Thanks again for the suggestions

Thanks jasmine, I think I'll just exchange it again rather than deal with shipping. Ill feel silly walking in there again to exchange again but oh well

If it is a recent purchase take it back to the store for an exchange for a new console.
