Xbox One S audio and video are lagging, should i change the internal hard drive?

I noticed this change about a month ago when playing a relatively low-impact game, FIFA 19. The game was stuttering and having trouble catching up, meaning the audio would start and stop randomly while the video was still playing, and the video would fully freeze while the game kept playing. Restarting the Xbox helped, but as the days went on, it got considerably worse. Now, most of the games are not working at all, as Forza Horizon 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 doesn't load. Even smaller and lower computational cost games like Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime and Cuphead run with the same audio/video lag issues. Both of these scenarios make the Xbox unplayable.

I have tried a couple of things to help:

• I moved my Xbox to my friend's house to see if my wifi or TV was the cause of the issue, but these issues persisted.
  
• I tried doing a power cycle, but these issues persisted
  
• I had only 50GB of free storage, so I cleared the storage and only had Forza Horizon 5 and Cuphead, but these issues still persisted.
  
• Frustrated, I factory reset the XBox. Instead the entire Xbox is running slowly and still Forza Horizon 5 and Cuphead have the same issues.
  

It seems like I've exhausted my options and am wondering if there are any other things I could do to fix the problem or troubleshoot the Xbox. I got some advice from a friend to change out the internal storage to an SSD, since the audio/video lag could be the Xbox not fetching information off the drive fast enough. Let me know your thoughts and how to solve this. Thanks again for your advice!
