Xbox one remote not working on PC and saying it has 360 drivers installed.

When you say 'remote' I guessing you mean your Xbox 360 controller on your PC?

Is your 360 controller a wired controller? If you've attempted to connect a wireless controller via a play and charge it won't work as the play and charge doesn't transfer data, it just charges the battery or powers the controller.

There are no drivers to install on Windows 10 as the drivers for all Xbox controllers are already included in the OS.

My Xbox One remote will not connect to my computer when it is plugged into the USB drive. I have been playing with the remote plugged into my computer for about a month with no problems, all I've had to do was plug in the remote to the computer
and the remote would turn on automatically. All of a sudden a couple days ago the remote stopped turning on when I plugged it into the computer, yet I could feel the remote vibrate when it plugged in. I have tried different USB connection cords and different
remotes and nothing has worked. I checked out online and they said to update the Microsoft Xbox One Controller Driver, yet when I open my device manager it does not show the Microsoft Xbox One Controller Driver, so I am not sure whether this got uninstalled
or just is not working properly. I've also restarted and updated my computer numerous times, yet nothing has worked. Please help if you know how to fix this issue, thanks.

You need to download the driver for the Xbox One controller. You can find them at :

Hello, I just got a brand new computer just a day ago now and I wanted to hook up my xbox 360 wireless receiver so that I can use my controller for games.

I have OS build: 19041.450

Any other system build info that you need just let me know and I will give that.

Everytime that I right click on the unknown device and go through the steps that I would normally do for installing the drivers for it it stays on unknown device and does not go to xbox 360 label.

Same issue here on a new PC. I have it working on my own PC with Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Driver Version 10.0.18362.1. On the new PC it tries to install driver 10.0.19041.1 and stays as an unknown device even though it says "Windows has Successfully
updated your drivers"

I have an Xbox 360 Slim w/250GB Storage.
I have a working original Xbox 360 Controller (black), and its driver installation is giving me problems.
P.S.: I do not have a "Charge & Play" Cable for the Xbox 360 Controller
But I have a few questions,
Q1 - Do I still require a Wireless Dongle to connect to the PC even after installing the Driver?
Q2 - How Do I install/add it as a Driver? Apparently, my PC is not able to recognize it even after troubleshooting.
Q3 - Will it unpair from my Xbox 360 Slim if I connect it to the PC?

Only made things worse. Still has driver error except now my pc wont boot up. Would having xbox live and xbox companion apps on pc conflict with the bluetooth address configuration on remote? Do I have to delete those also? Clear and reset my console aswell? Spend another $200 on another remote and pray that itll work? Think I'll add it to my pile of broke xbox remotes and consoles and learn to play with keyboard and mouse than delete everything on my pc so xbox remote can be compatible with a windows pc that has XBOX preinstalled. Past wanting a replacement. Ill Take a refund.
