Xbox One randomly turns on since energy saving update

It would be good if you noticed it, report it with the indications mentioned there.

Try a reset to rule out a software bug.

Go to Settings>System>Console Information

And restart keeping your games.

Note that the console accounts will be removed, so you will need to have the email and password for each account to log back in.

Your progress, achievements, purchases and other data will remain intact, don't worry about that, you won't lose any data, the only thing you need to do is to log in again.

If the problem continues after that, it is advisable to do the hard reset or use the console in power saving mode, as well as unplug it when turning it off.

The xbox one is made to always be on even when its off. It will auto download updates when in standby. If you go into the settings you can actually disable the instant on feature and it will FULLY shut down. This will make it so it has to boot longer
since it wont be in standby, but turning the instant on feature to energy saving mode it will completly turn it off. Note: when energy saving mode is on the "Xbox On" kinect function will not work for obvious reasons.

I have 2 Xbox ones. They are always in energy saving mode.

Just finished testing both and they are both going into instant on mode now, for some unknown reason.

We have a fetch box and the remote for fetch turns the Xbox ones on when they are in standby mode. This is because... they, both the Xbox one and fetch remote share the same infra red ch, which is why we need energy saving mode.....and why we discovered
this new behaviour in what is meant to be a fully shutdown Xbox.

For us now, energy saving mode behaviour = instant on mode setting

Which results in what appears to be Xbox ones randomly turning on when actually it's when someone uses the fetch remote.

I don't have an external HD connected. And it didn't matter if it was plugged into a power strip or a wall outlet. Since the latest system update, the console just starts up automatically all the time. I have it set to energy saving mode. Nothing I've tried
has had any effect.

Odd, when your Xbox powers on does the controller power on too?

Mine just started turning itself on. I don't have anything else plugged into it, and its plugged directly into a wall. I have had this console for over a year now with no issue, all of a sudden it has started doing this. I have to start unplugging the thing.
