Xbox One power supply - orange light

Hi all,

I have recently run into some problems regarding the Xbox One power supply. One morning I woke up and went to turn on my Xbox, when it didn’t turn on I saw an orange light on the power supply, I read up about what this could be and tried many different troubleshooting methods (resetting it, changing outlet, etc.) nothing worked. I then ordered a one. It came and I plugged it in to the outlet and Xbox but the light on the new power supply was still orange, even when it is only plugged into the outlet. I am wondering whether the actual Xbox is the problem in this case or I am just unlucky?! Any help is greatly appreciated.

The power supply should always have a light on it.

Orange light on power supply/no light on Xbox One = Xbox One is off

White light on power supply/no light on Xbox One = Xbox One is in standby (charge controllers, download updates, etc.)

White light on power supply/white light on Xbox One = Xbox One is on

May I know if after resetting your Xbox One power supply the light color was a steady orange or light, or was the power supply light blinking?

Cannot speak for Xbox One but on 360 a orange light on the power supply meant the power supply was getting too hot and might over heat

I also have this problem. I plugged my power supply into my Xbox one and it lights up for a few seconds before the console turns off, only the power supply unit is always lit in orange.

I tried to light it several times this way and it is the same ride: it lights up for a few seconds before turns off and the power supply unit is always lit in orange.

Check the light on your power supply

Solid green or solid orange light: Your power supply is working. If your console won’t turn on, try our

Xbox 360 No Power Solution.

Flashing orange, solid red, or no light: Your power supply may need to be replaced. Try the following solutions:

Plug your console’s power supply into a different electrical outlet. Do not use a surge protector.
If the power supply light is solid red or flashing orange, unplug the power supply and let it cool for 30 minutes. Then, plug the power supply back into the outlet.

If your power supply light is still flashing orange, solid red, or unlit, your power supply needs to be replaced. You can
order a replacement Xbox 360 power supply from our Xbox Online Service Center. Console registration is required to replace the power supply under warranty (the power supply
warranty is the same as your console warranty).
