Xbox One party chat not working while playing backwards compatible games.

Over the last couple of months, I have been having an issue with the Xbox One party chat while playing backwards compatible games.

Upon loading the game, the voice party chat mutes both ways. Nobody on Xbox One can hear users in the backwards compatible game and vise versa. Only users also playing on backwards compatibility can hear each other. No amount of switching between game/party
chat, muting/unmuting, and leaving/rejoining the party fixes this.

The party text chat is also effected by this. Messages sent by the backwards compatible user can be seen by Xbox One users but not vise versa.

This glitch does not seem to effect every party chat. Some party chats never have any of the problems listed above while some always do. It is unknown to me why this occurs. Could be the size of the party, the backwards compatible game being played, the
alignment of the planets(?), not sure.

If anyone has any solutions to this issue, it would be much appreciated.

Does the headset work on Xbox One Party chat (i.e. do you see a circle around your gamerpic in the party chat on Xbox One)?

Are only Backwards compatible games affected? If so, it might be that the Astro A50 base station acts as a USB microphone, which doesn't work as Chat microphone on the Xbox 360.

You might have to contact the Astro A50 support for information on how to use that headset on backwards compatible titles.

Yeah it works on the Xbox One party chat but yeah that's what i was thinking i might just have to get a old Xbox One chat headset for it to work.

Hey there NicoleVacca,

As long as the game is backwards compatible you should be able to play with your friend even if he is on the Xbox One and you are on the Xbox 360. Unfortunately you would not be able to actually join each other through a party chat being that you are playing
on different platforms. The Xbox One party chat would only work with other Xbox one consoles and same for the Xbox 360.

One thing you can always do to bypass this is to download the Xbox app through your mobile device and start a party through that with your friend through the app.

As Gears 3 is backwards compatible all your friend needs to do is load up the game and invite you to play co-op. If you want to chat while playing he'll need to use the 360 emulator to start a party chat with you .

All i can find is this support page https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/xbox-360/games/backward-compatibility/play-xbox-360-games-on-xbox-one and go down to the playbackwards compatability games with friends on xbox one.
