Xbox One (original) won't power up properly?

Hi all

I have an original black Xbox one and it won't power on - the light comes on the front of the console, the fan starts whirring then i get a quiet but repetitive '3 clicks' for about a minute before it turns itself off.

I've tried the usual 'remove the power supply for ten seconds' but that makes no difference - it seems the power supply is fine

Any help greatly appreciated, especially in these times of lock down in the UK!

I know you've tried working with the power supply already, but I had this happen with my original One as well and even though I thought it was the Xbox, it was thankfully just the power supply. I had them close enough together (which isn't great, so I've
since separated them by putting them on separate shelves) in a space that echoed, so it wasn't easy to tell which part was making the noise.

What I had to do: Unplug the power supply from the surge protector I had it plugged into (which I found out you're not supposed to do with these for some reason) and then unplug it from the Xbox. I also disconnected it in between, removing the cable from
the block as well. I left it unplugged like this for a few minutes while I distracted myself elsewhere. Then I plugged it back together, into the Xbox, and finally directly into the wall outlet. It powered right up after that.

Since then I've had to replace the power supply a couple of times, so it may be an indicator that it's starting to go. Just a heads up.

Inside the console itself

It's not likely to be the power supply, but just in case, could you try plugging it in directly to a wall socket and not a surge protector/extension cord?

If that still doesn't help then I'd assume the sounds inside the Xbox One console are coming from either the fan, or the hard drive itself. If the console is out of warranty, which I'd assume it would be if it's an old Xbox One, then unfortunately, it might
be an issue that is going to cost some money to get fixed depending on how serious it is.

Looks like a new box as there's nowhere open fro repairs! Well at least I can get Resident Evil 3!

That's what I feared, unfortunately. Hopefully when stuff opens back up, you might be able to get your current Xbox fixed on a cheap, then hooray, spare Xbox! Enjoy Resident Evil :-D

Where are the three clicks originating from? From inside the console itself, or from inside the power supply unit?
