XBOX ONE on laptop?

Howdy:

So I recently moved into a very small house and had to ditch my TV because there isn't any space for it. I have some movies on DVD/Blu-Ray and some music on CD that isn't found on streaming services that I'd still like to watch/listen to. I have a laptop but of course it doesn't have an optical drive. I know that it would be nearly impossible to play video games, but can I plug my XBOX ONE into my laptop's HDMI port and watch movies?

I'd appreciate any replies or suggestions before I run out and buy an HDMI cable that wouldn't work, especially considering that I think the HDMI port on the laptop is HDMI out. Or maybe there's a way to stream from the XBOX to the laptop using an app? Any help would be appreciated!

Not unless you have one of the rare laptops with an HDMI Input. Last I checked, the only ones that had that were a few Alienware models.

download vlc player from videolan website not the microsoft store, it plays bluerays fine and its free

Thanks y'all for the information. I didn't think it would work, but I figured I'd ask the experts.

The obvious answer here is to buy an external Blu Ray drive and plug that into the laptop. I was hoping to avoid that, not because of the cost, but because it basically renders my CyberPunk edition XBOX useless and that makes me real sad. Or maybe I'll see if there are any reasonable OLED TVs available for dirt cheap during Black Friday sales and mount it on the wall. My landlord will have a hemorrhage over that! : )

just pick up a 200$ gaming monitor online with 1080p and hdmi. my computer monitor looks wayyyyyyyyyyyy better than my 46' tv.

Yeah. Shopping for external BD drive on Amazon now. I had forgotten that Windows didn't support Blu Ray any longer and I'll have to buy Cyberlink's buggy software as well.

Geez. I wish I were a normal person and be perfectly content with getting wasted and watching whatever slop was streaming on Netflix regardless of whether I was interested.
