Xbox one OG stuck at Preparing COnsole after system update today,

If your console is stuck on "Preparing Console" after a system update, it's possible that the update didn't install correctly. In this case, you may need to perform a factory reset or use the Offline System Update (OSU) to restore your console to its original state.



To use the OSU, you'll need to download the update file from the Microsoft website and save it to a USB drive. Then, you'll need to plug the USB drive into your console and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.



If you're not sure which update to use (OSU or OSU2), I would recommend using the OSU first. If that doesn't work, you can try the OSU2.

Thank you for reaching out to us on the forums with this question, were you getting error codes or messages that led to the factory reset? Is it stuck on the preparing console screen or has it already gone through that and is now attempting to update the
console?

If you are stuck on the preparing console screen then you can always attempt to

Power Cycle your console, to do this just hold the power button on the console for about 10seconds (or until the console turns off) once the console has turned off wait about 15 seconds and then power it back on, this should restart the process.

If the issue persists then I would advise going through the Offline System Update, go ahead and follow the steps on the following support article for help.

Mine has also done that. Exactly the same symptoms this morning. Seemed to be stuck around 70% preparing console. After a reboot, stuck on green screen for longer than 10 mins.I'm downloading the offline system diagnostic tool

support.xbox.com/.../offline-system-update-diagnostic-tool but whilst waiting I totally powered off the Xbox and unplugged everything (including network cable) except for HDMI and powered it back up. I've now got it back after about 5 mins on the green
screen but am getting installation stopped 0x87e00005 errors every few minutes now.
