Xbox One October Update broke the ability to play 360 games using the Companion app

I always connect to the Xbox from my laptop using the Windows Companion app. The Xbox console updated last night, and this morning I cannot play any backwards compatible 360 games while connected through my laptop. I get the message "Sorry, we can't launch
this. <game> can't be used while streaming. (0x87e10004)". This happens on any backwards compatible game I try to open. I can only assume that something in the October update broke the ability to do this.

If there is a setting that controls this I haven't seen it. It's very frustrating to lose the convenience of playing anywhere instead of in front of the television.

Been having other Backwards Compatible games issues today as well. In my case, over Windows 10 companion app streaming.

Wondering if your DNS trick will help there too.

Im trying to stream JetSet Radio but they companion app wont let me connect it with my OBS for some reason

I know this was posted on Reddit (r/Xboxone), and I also commented about my ability to stream 360 games to my laptop

tonight; however, it might be a good idea if it gets said here too since it looks like people are for some are having different experiences.

After seeing this issue, I turned on my Xbox One and tried a couple of 360 games out while streaming them to the Xbox Companion App. Games like Alan Wake and Borderlands 1.

At the moment, I have no idea why some are unable to stream just the 360 games.

In regards to the person that contacted you on Twitter, they are an Xbox Ambassador (like me). We are not official Support. Just volunteers that can try and help people through their issues.
