Xbox One Not Working Through AVR

New Xbox one connected via HDMI to Yamaha RX-V377 AVR, which supports pass-thru to TV. AVR connected to TV via HDMI. Xbox One picture constantly "blinks" when connected this way. If I connect direct to TV, picture is fine. From everything I can read
on Xbox and AVR, this connection method should work, and I need it to work as my AVR manages more than one HDMI input to the TV. Tried calling Microsoft support, but kept getting disconnected. Any ideas on why this isn't working?

Why even fiddle with doing the cable pass through? Hook the Xbox straight to the avr and cable separate straight to ur avr and one out to ur TV from ur avr. If everything is high end one should not want nothing in between messing or degrading ur audio/video.

I'd run components straight to the TV but obviously one must hit the avr first for sound.

Anyways sound like a handshake prob with the HDMI where the TV/avr must be on first.

 

HDMI Video but no Optical Sound

Hi, thanks for the reply I'm not using a TV its an AVR and projector set up. I've set the audio out on the AVR for the Xbox to optical. Its the correct setting on the AVR because when the menu option is selected video from Xbox not working, the audio is
fine. Its only when I come out of the AVR menu and video returns that I lose the audio.

Ive used a sky HD box previously with this AVR and it was video over HDMI and audio over optical so i think its an xbox one issue.

 

What are the xbox one TV settings?

Meaning, please share specifically what you have set the xbox one to output?

Also, if using this method, don't use the HDMI pass-through on the xbox one, plug everything into the AVR.

*My personal experiences are to go directly from xbox one to TV and run the coax digital cable from the xbox one to the AVR so you don't have delays which may explain the blinking.

 

AND...not to confuse you, this should work depending on both your TV settings, the Xbox One settings and what the AVR receives and how that signal is decoded and or sent back to the TV.

It should work tho, just you will have to tweak a lot of settings in multiple places before getting things to work as intended.

EASIER to go to TV is all I was saying.

 

Thanks for the input. As far as the Xbox settings go, I don't even know what to do here or where to go. I am not a technical genius, but I can fight through it and get it working if there is a way to do it. In simple terms, I just want to run my Xbox
thru the AVR and then to the TV, as my AVR has 4 HDMI ports and the TV has only two. One of my HDMI ports on the TV is hooked to my ATT Uverse box, and I do not want to run the Uverse thru the Xbox. I want the other TV HDMI port to be hooked to my AVR; the
AVR would be used to manage up to 4 other HDMI connections. I think the Xbox should work thru my AVR; I just don't know what/where to go for settings. Thanks for any help!

 

When the Xbox is connected via the AVR keep a very close eye on the receiver display and let us know is the information on the display changing when the image is flicking such a jumping to a different hdmi input or any other thing that may change and let
us know know here what is happening on the display.

Interesting. Xbox to AVR with factory supplied Xbox HDMI cable. AVR to TV with Harbor Freight HDMI cable, video blinks in and out. Xbox direct to TV with Harbor Freight HDMI cable, video is stable; assumed cable wasn't problem. Wife found another high
speed HDMI cable tucked away, so for grins and giggles I went from Xbox back to AVR with factory Xbox HDMI cable, then from AVR to TV with cable my wife found. Video is now stable!! Apparently when going from AVR to TV, Harbor Freight HDMI cable is missing
something that connection needs? I don't understand...

 

Some HDMI cables differ from others.

In plains terms there are 3 different types of HDMI cables.

Real HDMI (they cary a 1080p signal and sound as they should)

Cheap (quality and functionality)

4K capable (the Xbox one type)
