    xbox one not turning on after replacing heat sink and fan


    this was my first time cleaning my xb1 out since it was very dusty. I took it apart, cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol and put it back together. afterwards when I turned it on, it said there was a ventilation issue so I opened it up again and saw no visible reason as to why I got the error. so I waited a few hours with it unplugged to see it maybe if it needed to rest or something, but it still gave me the same message. I bought a new heat sink and fan thinking maybe it just needed to be replaced, but now it's not turning on. I have two power supply cords and I tried switching both, neither worked. I also tried resetting the power supply like recommended and it still doesn't work. does anyone know how to help fix this?

    FIXED!

    I fixed this problem, by taking it apart, and cleaning the heat sink. I replaced it with new heat sink compound, and check every cable when I was putting it back together. Works flawlessly now!

    It could be faulty wires or a power supply problem which can be easily replaced. I'm betting on that it has been sucking in too much dust and the heat sink has a carpet attached to it. If it's the heat sink being dirty, just clean it.

    @Miss Ermine, did that and still nothing. But I think i might have found a design flaw in the cooling system. two of the ram chips sit right under the heat sink and get get heat soaked, and this xbox had little to no thermal past on the heat sink, so I put
    new thermal paste on the the heat sink and removed the fans outer cover and it runs a little better but not much. other then that there are no changes. Just Thought I would tell you all the this system is designed just like the last one. So my guess is that
    it is going to be just as problematic as the last generation of 360's.

    I just use it for gaming. Maybe microsoft could hire competent engineers that understand the necessity of proper heat sinks and cooling fans.
