Xbox One not starting up properly

Hi my xbox wont start up properly, it is turning on and will sometimes show the green starting screen and then go black. If i hold down the xbox button on the controller the menu will come up to turn it off or restart, but otherwise it just has a black screen. I've tried a hard reset and a factory reset but its not picking up the usb.

- Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

- Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.

- Press and hold the Pair button (located on the left side of the console) and the Eject button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console.

- Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

- Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.

- The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

If your console doesn't have an Eject button, you can bring up the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter on this console by holding only the Pair button (steps 3 & 4) and then pressing the Xbox button. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

- Once you see the Startup Troubleshooter, select Factory Reset and then choose "Keep Games and Apps"

- Once the Reset is complete, you'll be prompted to sign into your console using your Microsoft account credentials, after which you'll choose your preferred settings and your console should display normally again.

NB: A factory reset keeping games and apps will not delete your game saves as they are backed up in the cloud and will resync once you've signed in.

Hey, when I do this the second startup tone doesnt happen.

This is indeed a very unusual situation. I think there is a problem with the system software on your console.It may be corrupted or damaged. You should consider requesting a repair via the Official Xbox Website about this matter.

Hey just to add you can also try to apply the offline update to the console as well. You'll need to download the update to a USB drive.

Heres a link to the page that will help you out with that screen like Flymonkey102 said you can do a offline system update.

Basically why that screen happens is that there was a system update that tried to get installed on your system that got corrupted.

Thanks for the help, I solved the problem completely by getting rid of the xbox. It was given to me by someone else who didnt want it anyway. All my laptops and pc's dont have Microsoft on them so dont know why I accepted a product thats run by that trash
