Xbox One Mic Icon has line through indicating it is off, how do you fix??

Having issues with my sons headset not working. On the home screen there is a microphone with line through it, how do i change this? I tried going into settings but i could not figure out where to look for the microphone setting

Be careful spending money on new hardware only for the same issue to reappear in a matter of days. This has happened to me. This is a known issue / bug with some consoles that microsoft needs to fix. This is their issue.

I dont have one anymore, I dont understand how/why its now appeared as none of his friends seem to be suffering with the same problem.

Thanks for the reply, i have tried the above without any sucess.

i have tried creating another account but this doesnt work either.

The icon is there if the mic is plugged in or not, we have tried new contollers, new headsets etc and still nothing.

An icon appeared on the screen next to battery indicator for controller showing a mic with a line through it. Since then my sons headset won't work, the mic is not switched to mute. It worked fine in the morning
then in the evening the icon had appeared and it won't work. He hasn't changed any settings, this is very frustrating as he can hear his friends through the TV but can't speak to them. Please help as I don't know what to do

Thank you for posting on the Xbox Forums I totally understand your concern by reading the information you have given us am going give you 3 steps.

1. Factory reset your console

1. Press the Xbox button
   to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select All Settings.
4. Select System.
5. Select Console info & updates.
6. Select Reset console.
7. select keep games and apps

2. Privacy & online safety settings,

1. Press the Xbox button
   to open the guide.
2. Select Settings.
3. Under Account, select Privacy & online safety.
   
4. Select View details & customize.
5. Select Communicate with voice and text.
6. Select specific friends or everybody, depending on who you want that profile to talk to

3. Xbox Headset adapter


If you don't have a Xbox headset adapter I would recommend you get one because that could possibility causing the problem if that steps I provide you dose not work
