Has anyone else noticed that since the update the media player displays folders on USB HDD differently? I have a HDD plugged in with my downloaded TV shows on it. The individual episodes are in folders for each season, and the seasons are grouped in folders
titled with the series name. Previously all the folders were folder icons, and the individual episodes were still images of the opening scene of the show. Now when I go into my HDD, only the first 2 folders are displayed as folders, with the rest of them displayed
as cheap, low res "file" images, like a word document. This makes it very difficulty to read the titles of the folders since the font is white, and the file image is white. I don't know what they broke with this update, but it looks terrible. I was hoping
they would add the ability to add cover art for the folders, and when I saw this new change I thought that was what had happened. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case. Am I the only one with this issue? I have seen others posting about the xbox
no longer reading their media files, but have not seen anything posted about this.

    :)

What is your favorite external HDD?

I'm in the market to get one as well because of the new media player update. Does anyone know if I can partition half the drive for xbox storage and the other half for my music and media files? Think of getting a 4 TB and splitting it 1 TB for xbox one game installs and 3 TB for my media.

Accessing media within your network (pictures, music, video)

After speaking to MS Support they confirmed Xbox One can only be used with "Play to", so no access from the Xbox One itself to any media within a netowork. Did also not sound as it is planned as an update.

    Hey there JebusFreek666,

This is something that you're going to want to post on the
    feedback website
about. The teams are always looking to improve the console experience and if you have any suggestions such as the ability to add images to those files, you'll want to post them there.

  5. I did, 6 months ago. Even though you were able to do this on the 360, you can not on the one, which is ridiculous. But that wasn't what I was complaining about. The fact that this update broke the way that files are presented is what I needed help with.
I see that a lot of others lost the ability to see anything on their HDD's, or some lost the ability to even see the HDD at all, so I guess I should be thankful that MS only partially broke my XBONE.

    Media Center

Xbox One will be supporting DLNA on it's media player app with the upcoming October dashboard update, so this should be possible without problems.

It's already possible to stream media towards the One with the windows media player, but with the next update the One will be able to browse for DLNA servers within the network it's connected to.
