xbox one main owner always have to log in before others can play

UPDATE: WE ARE GOOD NOW. Unsure what we did last time. We removed all accounts, restarted console. Added me in first, then the others making sure it said home box. We think that it had something to do with passcodes. The boys are able to sign in without
me being signed in. THank you all again!

Is it possible that your account usually played on a different console? Or that the console was replaced because of a defect, or bought new for the kids?

If so, make sure that the account that bought these games sets the console the kids play on as that account's "Home Console".

Games you buy as a download are owned by and tied to the account that originally bought the games (what you call the "main account").

An account can specify one specific console to be their "Home Console", and the account will share "ownership" of that account's games and memberships to that specific console, so everyone playing on that console can benefit from the "owner's" Gold membership
and games in their possession.

In order to set the console where the boys play on as your main account's Home Console, sign in with your main account on that console.

Go to settings, and under Personalization, make this your account's Home Console.

BEWARE! An account can change their Home Console only 5 times within 365 days! So do not toggle that setting off and on unnecessarily!!!

This limit should prevent excessive "game sharing" to multiple consoles.

...I will check on the content restrictions, but the restrictions have not changed ...

If you get the message about the owner of the game having to sign in, then it is NOT content restrictions.

If it were content restrictions, the game would start, but show a dialogue that a parent has to allow the kid to play the restricted game.

You'd then either get a message, or get asked to sign in on the console to allow the kids to play the restricted game.

So I'd really put my money on an incorrectly configured Home Console setting.

Also be aware: If your kids are "smart" enough maybe they figured out your password, and might have given your account to a friend for "game sharing". Be sure to

secure your account with a passcode and
Two Step Verification.

A quick solve (in theory) would be to set the Xbox as your Home Xbox, that way anyone who plays on that Xbox will be able to access live membership along with any of your games even when you are logged onto another console or not logged on at all.

The only other thing I can think of (which has already been said) is parental settings but you shouldn't need to remove them from your family account (infsct I would say that's a bad idea).

Try setting it to Home xbox if it isnt already first. You could also try removing all accounts from the Xbox and putting them back on (dont worry saved games shouldn't get deleted). Then if it still doesnt work remove it as your home xbox, fully power down
the console and turn it back on and make it your home xbox again.
