Xbox One headset not recognised

Hi,

My son has a persistent problem with his headset/controller on Xbox One.

The console is not recognising the headset when it is plugged in to his wireless controller.

It had being working previously but ceased to work after moving the console to a different room.

As the headset worked with other devices, we replaced the controller and this seemed to cure the problem.

However, now about a month later we have exactly the same problem. The console is not recognising that a headset is connected.

I don't know whether it is coincidence or not, but this again happened immediately after moving the console between rooms.

Things we have tried so far:

Updating the handset

Resetting the console

Can anybody suggest what we might try next?

I already tried that. I only have one controller but it recognises the headsets.

I have exactly the same problem, working fine through 3.5mm headset jack on controller, next day no sound at all through controller, only through tv. Controllers won't recognise headset plugged in. I have two controller and both the same. Headset ok on other
devices and worked fine on xbox one s prior. Just randomly stooped recognising headset plugged in.

Have followed all trouble shooting recommendations and no joy.

Already done on both.

Controllers recognise old not working microsoft headset but do not recognise the turtle beach ones that had been working fine until Friday.

Are you using a headset adapter or just plugging into the 3.5mm plug?

Hi, thanks for your replies.

The controllers are both new and use 3.5mm not an adaptor.

When the issue first occurred about a month ago I assumed it was a problem with the controller so exchanged it for new one.

But now exactly the same problem has happened again. It seems unlikely to be a coincidence. Especially as it happened in the same way when we moved the console.
