Xbox One Headset, Can hear Others But Mic Won't talk back

Im also having this problem and its frustrating. yesterday i was talking to my friends in the party and then xbox service went down for a few hours, and when i came back to play i could hear them but the cant hear me. even when i disconnect my controller
is still says that i have a mic plugged in.

 

My son keeps having the same problem. It's been going on for months now. At first we thought the headsets were breaking and I've bought 3 separate Xbox One headsets. Now we bought him a Turtle Beach headset and after working for about 10 days the microphone
stopped working again. We've tried everything to solve this problem. Resets, unplugging everything, hard resets, checking all the settings, etc. There's obviously a hardware problem because all of these headset microphones are not faulty. I've been buying
Xbox consoles since the original but this Xbox One has been one problem and disappointment after another. I'm really unimpressed with this thing. Please fix this asap Microsoft. I'm really beginning to lose faith in your products.

 

I just started having this same issue yesterday. Considering my Day One mic was over a year old, I figured it may have been time for a replacement anyway so I went out and bought a replacement mic. After trying the replacement mic with two different controllers,
I too am unable to talk to others in party chat but can hear them. My green mic circle appears, but it never lights up to indicate that I am talking. I am able to use Kinect chat as a "workaround", but that is certainly less than ideal. I do not own Destiny
though, so I'm not sure if that in and of itself is a primary issue for this problem.

I have tried all of the system fixes, such as power cycling, resetting my router, Open NAT, forwarded all the correct ports for XBox Live, etc.

This is a very frustrating issue as the ability to chat in a party is critical for multiplayer games, and right now it is being made much more difficult by being forced to use the Kinect mic (requires me to talk over the TV volume, inability to mute myself
easily, have to play the chat over the TV instead of through a headset). I hope that Microsoft is working this issue as it seems to have been posted quite often, both in this thread and in numerous new threads within this forum.

Its the controller check your plug make sure all the way in the controller .where the two half of the controller meet there's a little space in a little give their sometimes so if you push down on it and press the mic in it should work

 

I obviously cannot speak for the others in this thread, but I'm very doubtful that it's a controller issue. I have tried two different mics (a standard mic and a mic adapter) on two different controllers, removing and replacing about 20+ times per mic with
no luck. Because I bought a mic adapter, I did do controller updates for each of the controllers I've been using, with no issues, for over a year now.

 

Its been months for me now same problem i wouldnt hold your breath
