Xbox One Headset Audio Static

I am getting static through my headset. The headset works fine on a different Xbox. The problem is the same on multiple headsets I tested. Even tested on normal earbuds with no mic and still had static.

Static goes away if I pull up the Xbox menu by pushing the Xbox button. Seems to just be through the left channel.

I have tried multiple settings with no help. I have been on the phone with Xbox support and tried setting up a static IP and DMZ but that did not help. The issue is present even when playing a game without internet connected. Also tried a factory reset
but that did not work.

Audio is fine through A/V receiver, only a problem on headphones or headset.

Seems like a firmware or console hardware issue. Any suggestions on how to fix?

Hi There,

Have you tried On the Xbox One, going into All settings > Display & sound. Under ‘Audio Output’ selecting ‘Optical audio’ and choose ‘Stereo
uncompressed.

It should help with the static coming out of your Xbox and headset.

Let’s Power Cycle the Console: Please unplug from the power supply for two minutes then try again.

Please Reset your Internet Connection also.

Please try the the headphones on a different controller or on another device. It may be that the 3.5 MM jack is having issues.

To be honest this sounds like it could potentially be an issue with the controller, offhand do you have another you could test with that XBox? We just want to rule out the controller itself, I have seen crazier things happen!

Good point, but i have ruled out the controller as being the issue. Tried updating controller and even bought a USB cable to hard wire the controller. No luck.

Same problem with multiple controllers. I have since bought a refurbished console from GameStop and literally only swaped the boxes and the issue went away. So it is definitely isolated to the box.
