Confusion about XBoxOne headset vs. controller compatibility

    Hi

The two headsets that you have listed above have 3.5mm jacks on them that will connect to all Xbox One controllers that have the 3.5mm jack. If you have an earlier level controller without the 3.5mm jack port then you will require the headset adapter or
    chatpad below.

All of a sudden 2 Different Headsets for XBOX One S Wired Controller stopped working Cant UnMute Known Issue With no solutions

As far as I know, all of the official Microsoft Xbox One controllers have the same physical size, shape and port on the bottom to connect to either a Microsoft Chatpad or Stereo Headset Adapter.

Here is the Support link for the Stereo Headset Adapter:

The Chatpad can be used to type messages and can even have various keys assigned in games like War Thunder that allow custom binding controls.

    Good luck!

    Wireless Controller

The one on the back of the wireless controller is for the Play and Charge kit. The 'two others' you describe are actually one port which is designed to be used for the Xbox 360 Chatpad accessory. The Chatpad actually connects to both this port and the
microphone port, thus allowing the use of a Chatpad and headset at the same time.

    KEYBOARD REMOTE CONTROLS

I really like the chatpad but yeah, it does change which headsets work, and I've lost the one that came with it so I can't have the chatpad and use a wired headset at the same time.

But for typing, it is pretty great.
