    Xbox One Guide selecting SD channel over HD channel when using Voice Commands


    Whenever I try to watch NBC on my Xbox One by using the "Xbox Watch NBC" voice command the one guide defaults to the SD channel for NBC on Time Warner.

    I have a Cisco 4742HDC cable box from Time Warner. The SD channel for NBC is 13 and the HD channel is 1007.

    I have set the One Guide to only show HD channels and added the HD channels to my favorites on both the cable box and on the One Guide. But as I said before whenever I use the voice command to change channels I cannot get the guide to change to the HD channel.
    All the other channels I have set up the guide defaults to the HD channel with out any problems. Its only the NBC channel using the voice commands. I feel like I am missing something here but I am at a loss as to what that might happen to be.

    Is anyone else having problems with voice commands to the One Guide defaulting to SD channels when there is an HD channel available?

    Xbox selects HD channel instead of SD

    I live in a college apartment and we are given comcast by the school, but the school does not pay for HD channels and we have a non HD cable box. The area I'm in however does receive HD channels from Comcast and I have checked that my xbox does in fact
    have the correct guide but every time I try and go to a channel using voice it keeps trying to take me to the HD channel which as I said my school does not pay for. When I use the one guide and select what I know is the SD channel it works fine but I want
    to use voice command to just go to a channel. I made sure the "show all HD and SD channels" is on in settings and there is no "hide HD channels". I noticed on xbox support that if my TV provider does not show up or if I use Broadcast TV then I select that
    and I can teach my xbox how to control my cable box. I thought about doing that instead of selecting Comcast but there is no Broadcast TV option. Is there anyway to keep my xbox from choosing HD channels or to manually teach my xbox how to control my cable
    box.

    HD channels not showing up

    Im having the opposite problem. I can't get rid of the HD channels in order to watch SD channels. my voice command only pulls up the HD version of a channel even though I have it set to show SD channels as well

    Hey Gaul, can you try manually changing to the SD channels with OneGuide. I believe voice commands should then go to the SD instead of HD channel.

    I've noticed the same exact issue. I went ahead and already put show all SD and HD channels but still missing numerous channels. For now I just use my TV remote in conjunction with my Kinect Voice Commands. I even tried using the Voice Command for one channel
    that wasn't showing (NFLNET) and it wouldn't pull up that channel but it displays fine using the TV remote.

    Only have SD channels

    No, usually you can go to settings, one guide, then poke around (don't remember exactly where it is) then see if you can find a setting that says he and sd channels, sd channels only, and hd channels only. This may also be on the actual one guide itself

    Sure thing. Comedy Central (SD) is in the guide, but the HD version is not.

    Same thing for Cartoon Network. SD is in the guide, but the HD channel does not show up.

    There are a few others, but these are the big channels that are missing from the guide.

    Again, for clarification purposes, I can pick up my Comcast remote and change to the HD Comedy Central or HD Cartoon Network channels using it and the cable box's menu, they just don't, for some reason, show up in the XB Guide.
