So my girlfriend's trying to install borderlands 2 and a few other gaems, she's been using a 1tb hard drive that I got her for a while but it's not even at 50% yet, but her games keep stopping with a "Device Storage Full" error. We've tried disconnecting
the hard drive and reconnecting, we've tried hard resets. Any other ideas?

Update kill the 360.

So after an update Oct/14/2015 (about when I got it) my system froze. zero responce from ANY pariferial device. eject and power where/are still working. So now when I start my system it gets to the end or just past the xbox loading screan and then a full
system sto, once and a while it will get to interface/guie. no error codes. no lights (controler pluged or unplugend) same results with and without game in system and/or controler, and/or the External.

I have one (1) controler.

I have one (1) external storage device (non xbox/microsoft) Western Digital 500Gb

My system is an Xbox 360 S (4Gb)

XBOX ONE NUBE and Storage confusion

I have an Xbox one 500GB. When content fills the 500GB, what is the best answer? Im unclear if games (not saves) are stored in the cloud?? Also, Ive read Xbox oene will accepet external storage, and i read it will.noet. Wont moest games and coentent be
downloaded to the 500GB HD???

The other issue that could be happening is when you are updating a game and it's primary storage is full, your game will not update until there is room on that storage.

I.e: warframe is on your internal hardrive, but you don't have enough room for the update to stay in the internal hardrive. Your Xbox will not split it's files between the two hard drives. Causing the installation to pause until there is room on the starting
hard drive.

moved all games to and external and unplugged it, then performed full reset (not keeping games) on the xbox. Left the external unplugged and tried to install one dlc, same error 'installation stopped' at the completion percentage 52.2%. Out of options
at this point I think. Hopefully there is an xbox update soon, maybe that will resolve it.

I know there are a lot of posts but let me re-summarize.

Hard drive was working with everything.

Xbox updated.

External Hard Drive allows Apps to install no issue, but games will not install or be moved to the External Hard Drive.

Games that were on the external drive still work but are no longer able to update and as such error out when attempting to play.

Given hardware did not change and is still in working order as evidenced by being read and installing Apps (small sized files compared to games), the only thing that changed was software (the update).

Some users report certain external hard drive enclosures work still ($7.99 on Amazon) but previous ones stopped. This tells me there is a driver incompatibility or a soft block on certain external device enclosures.

It also has 4TB of external disk space, which is not full, and what the game was trying to download on. The external hard drive still has around 2.5 TB left on it. The console has around 350 GB.

This may be a stupid question so apologies: Have you tried installing it on the Internal Drive? You mentioned trying to install it on the external one so just checking
