Xbox One games not installing from disc

You do not need to pre-load disc data over The Internet. The point of a disc is to ship the bits for the game to you on a piece of media.

The problems that Xbox One has with installation of disc-based titles have nothing to do with the disc being slow, they have to do with Xbox One trying to both install patches at the same time it's installing data from disc. To speed-up disc installs, disconnect
the Xbox One console from The Internet first. That way, the disc install will run as per normal (15-20MB/sec transfer rate from disc to HDD). Once that's complete, connect to The Internet and let the game update.

MS is working on the disc install problem. There was a recent survey in the preview app asking us to install a disc-based title and rate the installation process. I tested it using Forza 5 and it still took over two hours to install Forza 5, so it's not
fixed yet.

like for some reason, I can’t play Xbox one game discs cuss they won’t install. I can only install and play Xbox 360 game discs and games that have been installed from the store.

The disc is just a medium to get your game installed on your console. If you have installed a game from disc and then purchased the digital version you will no longer require the disc and the console will not look for the disc when you start the game anymore
even if it is inserted.

For example a friend comes around with a game and installs it on your console (along with any patches from Xbox Live) from their disc. When they leave - taking their disc with them - you then decide you like this game too and buy it from the Xbox Store on
your console.

The game you have already installed changes from requiring the disc to prove ownership to a digital ownership, there is no download required because your game is already installed and updated.

No Xbox One games run fully off discs anyway. Every game has to be fully installed and the disc is just read for a few seconds to prove ownership.

On Xbox One, the entire game must be installed to the system from the Blu-ray game disc. Once it is installed, the disc is only accessed to verify ownership.

On Xbox One, both the digital downloads and the discs are exactly the same size. It's actually a rather neat feature of the system. If a friend installs their game from disc on your system, then when they go, you buy the digital version, there's no download
as the game already installed is simply unlocked to run without the disc verification. Very useful if your Internet connection isn't too snappy.

You don't actually need to use the first disc to install the game, as the discs only act as a license to play the game. The game installs from an install by downloading it from Microsoft's servers.

So what you need to do is stick in disc 2 (disc one will only allow you to run the main game, disc 2 has the DLC licenses, which you want to install also.) Then try to start the game. The Xbox One should say it needs to update the title (which is really just
downloading the game and the DLC.)

You can check on what is downloaded by hitting the Menu button (that 3 lined button) on the title, then select Manage Game. It will bring up what is installed on your Xbox One and what is ready to install. If for some reason none of the game is installed, you
can install it from that menu by selecting it from the Ready to Install menu.
