xbox one games downloaded on 360

hi everyone , i just wanted to know ( i have a xbox 360) .

when i open the store to download the free mounthly games with the xbox live gold , i navigate to an xbox one free game i press download and a window pop-up telling me that the game was added and that the nex time you connect with your account on a
xbox one , you can play it .

and then back at the previous screen the button that was named download became ( you have already played this game on xbox one )

does that mean that if i open now my xbox live account on a xbox one ( going to buy one ) i will find thoes free game added to my account permanently as if i have purchase them !?

I have a 360 game that i downloaded on the 360. Can I get the game downloaded onto my Xbox one?

Using downloaded content offline on your old 360

I own both a 360 and an Xbox one.

I use both because I cannot store all my games on the Xbox one.

I want to be able to play my downloaded games on the 360 while offline. It sits in a room that doesn't have a modem and I don't have a 360 wireless adapter.

Can I have my Xbox one set as my home console and still play paid for and downloaded games offline on my 360?

I'm pretty sure that's correct. I've been telling my brother to secure his free games from his xbox 360 so that he can download them when he gets an xbox one.

Where did the Xbox 360 games come from? Another Xbox 360?

If they were downloaded via an Xbox One/Series console you can't play these games on an Xbox 360. Firstly the drive wouldn't be configured for an Xbox 360. Secondly, Xbox 360 games downloaded via an Xbox One or Series X|S are actually 360 games that have been converted to run on an Xbox One, they are no longer native Xbox 360 games.

That's weird because once it downloaded on the Xbox One it automatically downloads on the 360 as well check on the download pending on the 360 if game is downloading.

I'd be happy to provide some input.

So to understand what it is that is trying to be done is that you are trying to download the two free games with gold for Xbox One on an Xbox 360?

I believe the error may be related to the difference in the store and marketplace for Xbox One games and Xbox 360 games. It may be that you will need an Xbox One to download those free games to your account as you can download the 360 game with gold but
not the Xbox One games. Also the 360 is not capable of downloading games for the Xbox One so that's another reason why it's giving you the error because the game needs to download to be applied to the account. That may just be how it is set up by design.

Are you on an Xbox One or the 360? If you're on the 360 then go to Settings>Account>Download History to find the game and start the download. If you are on an Xbox One then the 360 version of the game is not backwards compatible and will not show on the
console.

Hello Emperor,

For some Xbox 360 codes, when redeemed on Xbox One, the game can only be downloaded on Xbox One and not on an Xbox 360 console. I'm not entirely sure why, but redeeming on the Xbox One means that it does not show up in your Xbox 360 download history so the
older console does not recognise that you own, and can thus download, the game.

You'll still be able to download and play the game on Xbox One.
