    As of 17 FEB 2017, Xbox One games are (most definitely ARE) region blocked in China. I'm intending two things with this post. First, I hope to inform anyone who might benefit from this information. Second, I'm venting because I'm angry and disappointed having
    read that Xbox One was now region free. I live north of Beijing. I just bought an Xbox One S (among other reasons, but strongly because I read it's region free, and backward compatible). The console shipped to me from Hong Kong. I also bought a brand new Halo: The
    Master Chief Collection game. The game will not load, with a message saying, "Sorry, we are unable to play this disc. It is made for use in a different region than your Xbox console." I have run the latest update for the console. I am able to play my old Xbox
    360 games, so I know the console is working (yay for backwards compatibility - although it sucks learning that each game requires at least a 7 GB download to run, I've seen 13 GB too, so I'm sure they vary - so know that, too. I don't have a high-speed Internet
    connection here, and I have a limited monthly bandwidth of 15 GB, so it's a real hassle). Sorry, I think I'm venting about too many things here.

    Just know that Xbox One games are still region blocked in China, or China is creating it's own Xbox One games, or something like that.

    China’s Xbox One and games will be region locked

    Games traditionally are region locked to specific regions in past consoles.
    And who knows perhaps PC version might be eventually coming out in english.

    I made my US live account while in china.. so some games are blocked because of the region difference... but im coming back to America this summer.. my account is American but it was made in china. so will it still keep my region in china? not allowing me
    to download those blocked games? im worried about I wont be able to download games like fable and lord of the rings war in the north.. it wont even let me download battlefield bad CO 2.. it will, but its corrupts the file because of region difference.. when
    I go back to the states.. will my account let me download those games?

    from what I've read, the Xbox One console is region free, except China?
    Though Xbox One is region free for games, all the Xbox 360 games are not region free.
