: Xbox one Fluctuating download speed normal or not?
Whenever I download a game or anything on my xbox, my download speed fluctuates the entire time and some times pretty drastically. It will go from as low as 50 mbps then starts jumping up to 200+ mbps some times 300+ then starts going back down and then
back up again.

It does this the entire time of the download. Some times not as much of a difference, average is usually a difference of 75-100 mbps. It this normal or should it be a more consistent speed or at least less drastic? I'm hardwired, not on wifi, using IPv6
and spectrum ISP.

While download speeds tend to flucuate on most game consoles due to their servers balancing the connections as server congestion can sometimes be quite high it shouldn't be drastic and you may want to review your network configuration to ensure the optimal
settings are used for your Xbox such as ensuring port forwarding is enabled as Xbox does state that it should be used for xbox live services.

Also sometimes making a manual DNS change from your ISP DNS address to an open one can help. GOOGLE DNS' address is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 which may help a bit.. Below is a great Xbox support page which may help with your issues. Best of luck and hope this

There are so many variables to download speeds you cant really say one thing will fix it. I know my speeds fluctuate alot

The fluctuation in speeds is normal. Your internet circuit is relative slow and anything else happening on your network or the servers can impact your actual speeds. It is extremely rare to get your full bandwidth when downloading anything.

I've previously had an issue with downloading speeds, however not on a Series X.

Typically, it only occurs around times were the servers could be under heavy load - have you spotted any sort of pattern when your download speeds fluctuate by this wide margin?

If so, I recommend you try and download/install apps or games against those patterns, possibly earlier or later when this issue usually pops up.
