Thanks for your post. I understand you are experiencing an issue with launching the file manager on your Xbox One. The last recent update has since removed the application from the Xbox One operating system which would explain the behavior on your console.

If you mean videos, pictures & music, then you could try using the media play app, which you can find on the store.

Where in the system are you trying to copy and paste?

You can bulk move games etc using the inbuilt tools if that is what you are trying to do.

To select more than one item in the Xbox File Explorer...

1. Navigate to the folder where you want to select the items

2. Go to the bottom right of the screen and click the icon that has 2 check marks and 4 horizontal lines

3. Check all the items you want to move, copy or delete (there's an option to select all if you select the 3 dots at the bottom right)

4. Once you have everything you want selected, go back to the bottom right and choose to delete, copy or cut and then choose where to copy or paste the files to and select the paste option.

5. Wait for the file transfer (time depends on device you're copying from).

That's not something that's publicly available. I doubt its even as simple as formatting the drive. You'd probably also need a different firmware for the HDD.
