My XBox One died, but the internal hard drive is still good. How can i use this drive as an external on my new XBox One, or what information can I copy to a new external without losing any game data I had downloaded? I’d like to save some time redownloading
many, many, many gigs of game updates and retain any user game data/progress that may not have been saved to the cloud.

    :)

tou can use the drive in an external caddy but you will have to format, it will not let you use the data.

Console deletes itself regularly. Basic 4gb console no hard drive.

It appears your internal flash memory is failing. Get an external drive (not a USB stick) to keep your data safe. Eventually though, your 360 will fail to boot as it won't be able to read the dashboard information off of your internal memory. There is no
fix for this. Next time, use external drives.

Is it possible to replace internal Hard Drive to 2TB or even 4TB+ still on the XBONE? +Max HDD Capacity supported for internal?

One platform allows you to upgrade your internal drive while not being able to install games on external drives while the other allows you to install games on one or more external drives while not being able to upgrade the internal drive.

Either way you have options to increase your storage capacity.

Having all games on one single internal drive shouldn't be considered safer as the drives are pretty much the same with the difference being that the external drives have their own enclosure. In the end, the drives are pretty much the same.

If you want larger capacities you can always opt out for a 3.5" desktop external drive such as the WD My Book or even the WD My Book Duo.

If you want data safety it may be a better idea to have multiple smaller drives instead of a single larger drive where if it fails you would lose all data instead of only part of it.

Larger capacity internal drives are with different form factors and you may not be able to fit a 3.5" drive unless you do some modifications on your console. 2.5" drives don't have the massive capacities of 3.5" drives.

    Data not saving

save data and cache data is stored on the internal drive regardless if you use an external, you will need to free space on the internal drive.

Xbox one HDMI broken, Can I take the hard drive out to connect to my new Xbox One X?

Okay, but if your console dies after you are out of warranty and all your info is on the internal. How are you supposed to get your data off the old console? This is not rocket science! I have been in the computer business since the 90's and was MCSE certified
way back. From win 3.1 to win 95 to win 10 now, you can take an internal drive out of a computer and connect it as an external to any computer and see everything and access the data. I can see it the old internal xbox one drive on my computer but the xbox
one x does not even see the drive. I will be borrowing a working xbox one from a friend, swapping my drive for his so I can use the backup utility in settings to properly move the data to an external drive so the new xbox one x will see it. I just did not
want to have to do this and Microsoft should have a utility to recover data from dead consoles with a computer to do the conversion for use as an external. Does the external drive need to be a 3.0
