  1. Xbox One factory reset with USB fails

I have a Xbox One that was updating when said it ran out of memory.

    The screen had the following:

"Clear some space on internal storage. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS needs 4.9GB additional space for its update Uninstall something from internal storage, then try again. (0x80070070)"

Two clickable buttons were shown: "Free Up Space" and "Cancel".

Regardless of selecting one or the other the screen went dark and that's the last of any activity.

I tried hard reset (power cycling) but that came back to the same screen.

Then I tried to do a factory reset with a USB stick since all the console windows were not available.

This also failed even though I carefully followed all the instructions on unplugging the ethernet cable, unplugging the power, formatting the USB as NTFS, downloading the zip file and copying the $SystemUpdate folder to the USB, plugging the USB drive in a USB port, simultaneously holding down the Pair and Eject buttons then touching the power button. Sometimes I hear the two power up chimes after 15 seconds and I see the USB stick is being accessed (flashing led) but then the power down chime happens after a few seconds meaning it failed. Sometimes after 15 seconds I see the USB being access but I don't hear any chimes.

I've tried two different USB sticks, both of which are 32GB big and both work fine on my windows box.

Are there any other bootable programs I might be able to put on my USB stick?

Is there a secret way to really reset the XBOX operating system to boot into safe mode like a PC?

Is there a bootable DVD that does the same thing?

Or is this now an expensive brick?

    :)

I guess I will explore if computer repair stores can fix a Xbox that can't boot.

    Thanks

Xbox One stuck on green start up screen.

If all else fails, I have had luck with the USB option for a reset. It really puts you back to a clean slate. There is some work involved but it worked for me on one of my past consoles.
