    Xbox One external HD showing as full with nothing on it after a system update.


    On Friday 16th June 2023 at 17:23, our Xbox One did a system update. When it was next used on Saturday the 17th June 2023, everything previously installed on the external hard drive was missing. However, the external hard drive is still visible to the xbox but showing as full 7.3TB. I've search online and seen similar comments about full external hard drives with nothing on them following an update but not how to resolve this.

    Hi Francia,

    I did all this at the weekend and it is still the same.

    My next thought is to see if there is an app I can download for the xbox to do a drive check or possibly see if I can update the external hard drive driver.

    Another option. Which doesn't seem available would be to remove the last xbox update to see if the drive returns. I don't think that is possible though.

    especially if it's a large drive, it could take some time to re-index it. That could very well be your problem

    Do you have any idea of how long the drive would need to be left on to allow this to happen?

    I'm happy to adjust settings to tell the xbox not to go to sleep and therefore keep the drive on.

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you with your concern.

    The external hard drive may have been corrupted. I have here steps that we can try, please perform a power cycle on your console by following the steps below:

    Unplug your external hard drive and then perform a power cycle on your console before plugging it back in.

    POWERCYCLE CONSOLE​​​

    "1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

    2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. ​​"

    I have tried this more than once. I have also carried out a XBOX reset (keep games etc). This had no effect.
