XBOX One Elite Controller - How to Turn Hair Trigger Locks OFF

Hi,

first of all I would like to emphasize that I really love the XBOX One Elite controller. I paid a heavy price for the Elite controller, but it feels great in the hand, is durable, heavy and the overall quality is just awesome.

I also have a highend rig and I thought that owning the Elite Controller would give me an extra edge in gaming by giving me the ability to customize each button input. And this is the point where the greatness stops.

I bought The Witcher 3 GOTY Edition and for some reason, the L2 and R2 buttons do not work in the game.

I started another game (Shadow of Mordor) to make sure that the controller has no hardware defect - and Shadow of Mordor the Triggers just worked fine.

So I tested connecting the elite controller via Bluetooth and via USB-cable.

Started The Witcher 3 again, sadly L2 and R2 aren't recognized by the game.

So I tested a normal XBOX One controller in The Witcher 3. No problems at all.

So my first idea was to wright the publisher of the game, because of the compatibility of the Elite controller and the game itself.

They wrote back the following: "If you are using a Xbox Elite gamepad please turn the Hair Trigger Locks on the Xbox One Elite controller OFF, as the triggers need to be pressed all the way down to register input." and this link:

But I didn't know where to find that option or what a Trigger Hair Locks function on a Plug and Play controller is in the first place.

So I wrote the XBOX support and they sadly couldn't give me any information about Hair Trigger Locks.

The told me to open the XBOX Accessories App.

After i reliped that I have Windows 8.1 as an OS, they forwarded me to the Microsoft support for further help.

So I opened up a chat with the microsoft support and explained my problem (again).

Then Microsoft support replied immediately that they cannot help me and that I should contact XBOX support for a solution.

Now I am back where I started. With a controller for 130 bucks that does not work and no information whatsoever.

How can I change the Hair Trigger Locks to OFF on the Xbox One Elite controller?

I am really looking forward to your answer.

PS: Please do not forward me with no information for the 4th time in a row.

Silly me! I suspect the hair trigger locks are not a supported function in GTAV; the controller and game function normally when both hair trigger locks are turned off.

1. Have you tried to re-map Witcher 3's controls on controller options?

2. Have you tried updating your controller?

3. Have you successfully set your controls on Xbox Accessories App?

Thank you for your reply. Xbox Accessories App is only available on Windows 10, you need to upgrade your system to Windows 10 for you to download the app. If your Hair Trigger is still not working after upgrading your system and installing Xbox Accessories
App, we would suggest that you contact the developer of the game.

 

So what you want to tell me is that if I want to edit some settings for my 120€ controller, I have to buy a new OS? You must be kidding. It's not that I want to combine old peripherical devices with a new OS. The XBOX One Elite controller is from 2015 and
Windows 8 was released in 2012. And BOTH producs are from the same company. And they are not fully compatible with each other? WTF Microsoft get your stuff together.

I really don't want to be forced to use the Xbox Accessories App just to edit software settings for a controller. From my perspective, a controller should be Plug&Play in the first place.

And a high prized premium article, like the Elite Controller is advertised, should definitely let the customer change settings straight from the beginning. I can't imagine Microsoft being unable to code a XBOX Accesories Tool for Windows 8 (their next-to-last
OS).

It is more that they are not willing to do so, which implies to me that Microsoft just does not care about the customer in any way.

I'll reopen my support ticket from the developers of the game, but I assume that they'll be unable to help me if the settings of Hair Trigger Locks needs to be changed to OFF, which seems to be impossible with Windows 8.

But I'm an optimistic person and I will come back to this forum with their answer.

Is there any way to open the Elite Controller settings via Editor? I guess that if Hair Trigger Locks is just an "ON or OFF" setting, you just have to change a "1" to a "0" in a .cmd or something.

Thank you for following up. Button mapping is available via Xbox Accessories app for Xbox One and Windows 10, range compared to previous controllers. Using the Xbox One S console, operating
system updates may be required. Here is a

The hair trigger locks on the controller are the physical switches on the back which, when slid into the downward position, prevent the triggers from being pulled all of the way down. Since they prevent the triggers from being pulled all the way down
(can only go about halfway), games which need a full pull on the trigger to activate it won't work correctly. Though it is possible to keep the hair triggers in use if you use the xbox one accessories mapper to change how software reacts to trigger pulls,
if you can't use it, then just flip the switches back up for full trigger pull. The option for hair trigger has next to nothing to do with drivers or software: it is literally just switches that stop the trigger from being fully pulled so that it feels similar
to a digital input (but is still an analog trigger).
