Xbox one Elite controller firmware issues

my xbox one elite controller (the very first model of elite controller specifically) is acting strangely. this issue started randomly one time when i connected it to my pc via usb.

the issue: all analogue features of the device are not responding to input, or delivering incorrect inputs. when i first connect the controller there is no issue, but as soon as i press any of the buttons, the triggers become totally unresponsive, and both of the sticks behave as though they were pushed perfectly diagonal down and left as hard as possible.

as far as i can tell this is not a hardware issue, the controller was barely used and kept in box until i started using it recently. after about a week of use this problem began and i have been unable to find any solution.

i cannot change the profiles because when i enter the xbox accessories program, the controller activates and the selection moves to the bottom left of whatever screen im on and stops me from interacting or opening and editing a profile.

i also obviously cannot use the controller with both sticks behaving this way.

is there any way i can reset the firmware? i do not own an xbox console, only a windows 10 PC.

DFU mode is available for the first xbox one controllers, the ones without the headphone jack. All other controllers post that including the Elite controller don't use USB DFU(Device Firmware Upgrade) mode for firmware update.

The first thing would be to try and see if a firmware update is available via the Xbox Accessories app on the store, and if that fixes the issue for you.

The link you provided is a dead link. It doesn't work.

On my Xbox it says no update available for the controller.

I've spoken with people on the preview program and they say that their Xbox One Elite Controller vibrates with Destiny. They have a different software version on their controller. So it's absolutely not a compatibility issue, but a firmware issue. The
firmware for the controller that's currently only available on the Xbox Live preview program needs to be made available to everyone.

Did you try updating the firmware on ur controller? I had this happen to two of my xbox elite controllers aswell one of them was a wolferine elite, it wont update firmware on xbox, or pc. They were wired, and it was the wire inpluck that was broken. Hope
you figure it out, before warrenty runs out

Firmware version 517.3202.0 is the latest firmware version available for the Elite Series 2 controller. So your controller has the latest firmware available.

Don't forget the Elite Series controllers use a different firmware than the other controllers, because it has different features to the standard controllers.
