Xbox One Disc Drive will not read unless I unplug the power and plug it back in.

I've done all the setting and already have the system plugged into the wall. Nothing helps. The only way it works is if I unplug the system and plug it back in. Just going open it up and mess with it since warranty is already expired. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about the trouble and frustration you are experiencing. My first suggestion would be to submit another repair request if it is still under warranty. Is your console set to instant on in the power settings? Perhaps changing this setting can
help your console fully power up and help the disk drive.

Also not sure if this will help but is your console power isolated, in regards to directly plugged into the wall? Sometimes if its sharing power with another device it could be interfering when its plugged into an adapter. This is highly unlikely the case
but you never know, ive had issues with my console before with it not starting up and then i changed the plug it was plugged into and it was ok.

I’ve been having the exact same problem. I did the same thing - sent the console off to have it repaired only to have the issue continue. I even did a console exchange and that didn’t solve the issue. After scouring the internet and talking to someone on
Reddit, the issue seems to be able to be traced back to a system update that Microsoft released back in August. I don’t know the details. I just know that that’s when my issues and the Redditor’s issues started. The only work around they could find would be
doing what I’ve been calling a double start (start console, let it get to home screen, and then restarting the console) or changing your start up mode to Instant On (which is kind of a waste of energy and, by extension, money).

Given how long this issue has been going on, Microsoft/Xbox either doesn’t know about it or doesn’t care about it. I’m starting to lean towards the latter, otherwise they would have fixed this by now (they did, after all, just release another system update
that did jack squat) and ended this major annoyance for all of us.

Remove disc if there is a disc in console, then unplug External Hard Drive if you have one. Then UNPLUG POWER to CONSOLE and wait 2 mins, then plug power back in , TURN ON and see if any change. If no change then try to do a Emergency Offline Update

If you have an external hard drive it could be an issue with that. Try holding the power button on the console for 10 seconds until it shuts down. Then unplug the USB drive and plug it into a different slot. Power the console back on and see if the drive
reads.
