    xbox one - copy disc game to hard drive


    The majority of the games I have are downloaded for my xbox one, but I recently got a disc game and I thought I could "install" or copy the game to the hard disk for the xbox one so I do not need to keep the game disc inserted. Is this true? Are there
    steps on how to do this (all my searching I can only find info on this for xbox 360). Thanks!

    I want my games to run off the disc not the digital copy

    That's because your games do not run off your disc.

    Not even the ones you only own on disc.

    You use the disc to install the game digitally to the Hard Drive of your XBox ONE.

    Then because it's a disc copy that acts as your Digital Rights Management and allows you to play the game that is installed on your Hard Drive..

    When you own the game digitally only this DRM allows access without the disc.

    Sir, I dont have an Xbox One, I just have the Xbox 360 Arcade. With an Hard Drive that I bought at Gamestop. I believe the Hard Disc Drive was a copy from Gamestop, It was a gift, I didnt buy it.

    The game is installed to the hard drive from the disc then you have to insert the disc to play the game.

    Nope it was going to be an option however due to rhe massive protest against it by xbox "fans" they now require the disk to be inserted

    200k people protested against linking installed disks to be linked to accounts even though you could lend the game for 24hours to a friend or even tramsfer it but eveyonr saw the always connected and protested

    It was a xbox one feature but unfortunately due to the protest and phil spencer resigning shortly after they added a day one mandatory patch that removed it

    Phils successor promises to llook into it as an optional future update

    Buying an original Xbox game

    All original Xbox games require an official MS hard drive in order to run because of the emulation software required to run the games. This is a requirement of digital copies as well as hard disc copies.
