Xbox one controller wont detect headset.

Hello there,

Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums. Just to clarify, have you tried to update the controller, or connect the controller to the Xbox One with a USB cable? When you connect the headset to the new controller does the controller detect the headset and
there just isn't any sound coming out of the headset? or does the controller not detect the headset at all for either controller? Does the headset work on other devices?

We thank you for bringing this inquiry to our forums community, and understand that this concerns an inability for your son to utilize his headset with his controller on his Xbox One console.

A line through the microphone indicates that the microphone is not being detected, or in some cases, that the headset is not being detected. To test this, you can try the headset with another controller if available, or you may also try a different headset
with the same controller if available.

This will more than likely deal with the audio jack at the bottom of the controller, and we recommend attempting to follow our
Xbox One Chat Headset troubleshooting support article as it provides steps to assist with headset detection in general.

Try this out for us and then let us know the results.

Are you experiencing audio quality/performance errors? Is the headset no longer being detected through the controller, and if so, have you attempted using a different Xbox One controller?

It is rare that I do not detect it because any headset / handsfree is detected by the control, I leave a link where maybe you can find something about it.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. We understand the controller is not detecting the headsets. We recommend to

update the controller with the headset plugged in. Even if it shows no update available hit A on it as it will run a search for update, this will usually resync the headset/controller.
