    Xbox One controller unpairs after disconnecting from USB on PC

    I have a Bluetooth capable Xbox One controller, and I use it on PC through a Bluetooth dongle. When it's paired with the PC, it works normally after turning it on. It also works just fine after I connect it via its USB cable, it can charge and be used at the same time. However, the moment I disconnect it from the USB cable after charging, Windows just forgets the controller. It's no longer among connected/paired devices in the Bluetooth settings menu, and I have to pair it again with the "add a new Bluetooth device" button. Not to mention that the controller doesn't seem capable of charging to full, the indicator light stays orange even after 10 straight hours of charging. I have updated the controller itself, and Windows tells me its drivers are also up to date. Could this be the battery pack's problem?

    :)

    Xbox One controller unpairs after disconnecting from USB on PC

    Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

    Connect controller via usb, update drivers through xbox accessories app. Then connect via bluetooth.

    Go into device manager > human interface devices > Bluetooth LE XINPUT compatible input device > power management> disable "allow this computer to turn off this device"

    services > device association service > set to automatic

    Hope this helps

    Wireless Controller for XBOX one in Bluetooth recognized as "6 axis 16 button gamepad with hat switch" and does not function normally in games

    Hi,

    Your controller needs a firmware update to work fully with Bluetooth in Windows 10.

    • Install Microsoft store app: Xbox Accessories
    • Make sure device is unpaired and then Link controller to the PC via USB cable
    • Open the Xbox accessories app and update the controller (it will be prompted to do so). Wait for the process to end and do not disconnect the controller until completion
    • Disconnect from USB cable
    • As before, make sure your controller is not paired to the PC
    • Restart PC
    • Open the Accessories App again and pair the controller via BT in the usual way
    Hopefully your controller will be detected correctly this time.

    Once this is done, you shouldn't need to run the Accessories app again unless you want to change any settings.

    XBox controller charging but not detected when plugged on USB port

    Hello Cluzo,

    I am sorry you are experiencing issues playing on the PC while the controller is plugged in via USB.

    What type of controller are you using? (Xbox one controller, Xbox Series X|S controller, Elite Series 1 or 2 controller?)

    What is the current firmware on your controller?

    Have you tried unpairing the controller (completely remove it from your PC) then plug it in like new with the USB cable?

    My series X controller stops working while i play

    Hello, kimhartman2. Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Community expert user. I'll be happy to assist you today.

    Are you on Windows 10? Also, does this happen while connected both by bluetooth and cable?

    Please try the following (if haven't been done yet):

    - Install microsoft store app: Xbox Accessories;

    - Make sure device is unpaired and then Link controller to pc via generic usb-c to usb cable (should say setting up device);

    - Open the Xbox Accessories App and update the controller (it will be prompted to do so) and wait for it to end;

    - Disconnect from usb cable;

    - Unpair (remove device) controller from Windows under bluetooth & other devices;

    - Restart PC

    - Reconnect (pair) controller to windows again via bluetooth and test;

    Also, please open Windows Update and download all updates available, including optional updates.

    If this still can't solve your problem, just let me know and I'll do my best to try to help you.

    [PC] Xbox One Controller Won't Turn Off

    Hi Basx3,

    The controller will need to be disconnected from the provided USB cable to allow the controller to turn off. Since you are on the PC, the controller does not have the same power menu the Xbox One does to manually shut off the controller.

    The USB cable is supplying power to the controller from your computer.
