XBox One Controller Too Sensitive

I've been having issues with an overly sensitive xbox controller, especially for aiming in FPS or trying to walk. It seems like the smallest movement of the left stick is walk, anything beyond that is run. The right stick aiming is the same. Barely touch the stick it moves OK. Anything above that you're basically spinning on the spot. In the heat of a firefight it's just too jumpy.

I believe I've worked out the issue but don't know how to implement a change.

The raw data for the inputs max out at 0 and 65535 for both axis.

The issue is that these controllers seem to hit that at half stroke, meaning it's seeing a full left movement at half stick, essentially giving you half the range of motion for full sensitivity.

Realise there is no sensitivity adjustment that will help this. The only thing you will be essentially changing is how fast it moves at its perceived full stoke, not increase the range of said stroke.

The first work around would be to raise the limit of the raw data so it extends beyond the current limits. I remember gaming on old joysticks and if you calibrated and it saw half the range it would still calibrate to know that it was full stroke at half the raw value. There's no need to hard limit the raw data if Microsofts own controllers go beyond those values! This would be a simple fix that would be global.

The second is a firmware change that halves the raw data counts. This one would mean people would have to physically change their own firmware. It would be only effect individual controllers that belong to people that researched this issue. Not as simple.
