Xbox One Controller supposedly empty and disconnecting when the battery is still full?

My Xbox One sometimes randomly gives me the low battery warning and my controllers turn off immediatly.

This happens even though my controller is still charged. (I'm using the official Play & Charge Kit)

I'm not even able to reconnect it until I plug it in for a few seconds. After that my Xbox even shows that the Kit is still completely charged.

I don't think the Play & Charge Kit is broken because this also happens when I use batteries.

This also happens when I use my Controllers on PC via Bluetooth.

Both of my Controllers are the One S Bluetooth Models and both are updated to the latest Firmware.

    :)

    1.2V vs 1.5V

You won't damage your controller, but the way how rechargeable batteries drain, your controller will disconnect earlier because of low power.

First of all, the rechargeable batteries only provide 2.4V power instead of the "expected" 3V.

Non-rechargeable batteries also keep their voltage "linearly" at 3V, only to lose power rapidly just before they die completely.

Rechargeable batteries constantly lose voltage over the time they become empty, so even if the rechargeable batteries are still "half full", they might not have enough power for the controller to rumble, or be connected at all.

So in short: You don't damage your controller. You just have an empty controller more quickly with rechargeable batteries.

If you want a rechargeable solution, I'd recommend getting an official "Play&Charge" kit.

Xbox One Wireless controller randomly disconnects

I contacted Microsoft support and described my problem. The support person immediately said the problem was the Xbox One's controller battery cover and is shipping me a new battery cover. She assured me that this will fix the issue. I am very skeptical
that this will fix the issue unless they redesigned the battery cover to hold the battery in place better. I will compare the covers when it arrives to see if there is a difference. While I'm waiting, my controller still disconnects from the console. Has
disconnected on me 3 times a few minutes after a fresh charge. The battery indicator will go from showing full to red in about 1 hour. Then you disconnect controller and re-connect and it shows full again only to repeat the same pattern. If the battery
cover doesn't work I will try to get MS to replace the rechargeable battery. I have not yet had this problem with AA batteries. With AA batteries the indicator also seems to work properly.

    problems with wireless controllers

My controllers are doing the same thing. They are both wireless controllers. I tried one with new batteries and the other with a battery pack. When it's plugged in with the battery pack it works and even says that it has a full charge. When I disconnect
the cord, it won't reconnect to the XBOX. I don't have anything new (wireless or bluetooth or anything) that would be interfering with the signal - to my knowledge.

Play and charge kit: how much mAh?

I really like the official battery for the Controller, no need to use other batteries anymore :)

We only need the Xbox logo on the Controller flashing when the battery is almost empty

Thanks for clarifying them different behaviors batteries have.

As I've commented in the post below. I will consider to buy a play and charge kit.

For the moment I'm using regular Lithium batteries.
